Pennsylvania’a Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) has just announced the release of the BEAD funds for developers like us to begin to move forward to provide the rural broadband that Pennsylvanians deserve. CoreConnect is now actively involved with engineering our final design for our 10-county, 2,650-mile fiber-to-the-premises build to power our open access network. While we do not yet have full plans as to where we will begin our build and how it will progress over the next 4 years, we anticipate having that information in the not-too-distant future.

Connecting What Matters in Northwest Pennsylvania
Following the announcement by Governor Josh Shapiro and the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA), CoreConnect has secured a $90.7 million BEAD grant award to build a 2,650-mile, open-access fiber-to-the-premises network across Northwest Pennsylvania. As a regional 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are building the digital foundation for our 10-county footprint—Cameron, Clarion, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, and Warren—to deliver high-speed internet, power rural telehealth, and drive local economic growth.
When Will Fiber Reach Your Address?
We are currently in the high-level engineering, route permitting, and environmental planning phase. Field surveys and route designs will continue through late 2026, leading toward a targeted construction start in Spring 2027.
Because deploying 2,650+ miles of fiber is a phased, 4-year regional buildout (2027–2030), exact street-level timelines will be published in stages as engineering permits are finalized.
